Dorothy was onto something when she uttered that famous line… (you know it)…
“There’s no place like home.”
NYC was a whirlwind but we had the most amazing time.
Lisa Nichols was legendary, we got to connect with many friends who showed up to support her, and Rain got her first taste of the Big Apple.
I feel so blessed and grateful.
AND… it’s so good to be home.
Today, I’m thinking about a big project I’m launching soon.
I’ve NEVER shared this before – outside of my VIP clients – but it’s THE thing that helped me go from a shack in the Appalachian Mountains to this wildly beautiful life I have today.
It’s quite literally my life’s work.
So, today, as I sip my coffee with a splash of vanilla almond milk creamer, I’m reflecting.
Reflecting on this wild journey that has been my life.
Reflecting on who I’ve been and how I’ve changed and how in the world I did it.
I’m also dreaming and looking at the future.
2025 is just a few weeks away and I have big plans. In fact, this year will be my biggest year yet.
And that, requires some planning.
Today, I invite you to do the same.
To think about where you’ve been, where you’re going, and who you’re gonna need to be to get there.
Today’s article should help with that.
I love you and I’m here with you every step of the way!
Cynthia
PS Keep your eyes on your inbox because “my life’s work” (should prob just name it that) is dropping soon and I swear to you, you do not want to miss it. Seriously. It’s like that.
Forget the How—Focus on the Who
Ok…
Last week, we talked about choosing your Unapologetic Goal—that big, bold, fuck-yes vision for your life that makes your heart race and your doubters choke on their vanilla lattes.
You remember, right?
The goal that’s so unapologetically YOU that it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.
Well, let’s talk about what happens next.
For most people, as soon as they lock in their unapologetic goal, the first thing they think about is HOW.
How am I going to do this?
How am I going to make it work without everything falling apart?
AND how will I have the TIME?!
Let me tell you—those are the wrong questions to ask.
The how doesn’t matter (yet).
Here’s the truth…
When you focus on the how right out of the gate, you’re setting yourself up for frustration and overwhelm.
The how isn’t the problem.
It’s never been the problem.
What really matters—what actually determines whether or not you reach that unapologetic goal—is who you decide to be.
Did you hear that?
Let me say it again…
What really matters—what actually determines whether or not you reach that unapologetic goal—is WHO you decide to be.
Before you start obsessing over the how, you need to focus on the who – Your identity.
The version of you who’s already living that Unapologetic Goal.
Now, I’m going to show you how to achieve your goals by focusing on your identity!
The Power of Identity – How To Achieve Your Goals By Focusing On Your Identity
Let’s get real for a second… (cause you know that’s how I keep it)…
Your current habits, beliefs, and way of thinking got you to where you are today—but they won’t get you to where you want to go next.
I know. But it’s true.
Reaching your Unapologetic Goal requires stepping into a new identity—the identity of the person who’s already living that life.
This is where most people fuck it up.
They think, “If I just hustle harder, grind longer, and follow the step-by-step plan, I’ll get there.”
But that’s outdated thinking and honestly, it’s just not necessary.
Hustle and grind don’t create real changes. Identity does.
When you change your identity, you don’t have to struggle or fight to make things happen.
You start to become the kind of person who naturally makes those things happen.
Your actions, habits, and decisions align effortlessly because they’re rooted in who you are—not just what you’re trying to do.
Soooo… Who Do You Need to Become?
Let’s break this down.
Imagine your Unapologetic Goal is to build a multi-million-dollar business that lets you work 20 hours a week while traveling the world.
I love that for you.
But here’s the question…
Who is the version of you that’s already living that life?
How do they think?
How do they act?
What do they believe about themselves, their time, and their abilities?
Start there. Get clear on that version of you. Write it down. Visualize it. Feel it. Because that’s who you need to become to make your unapologetic goal a reality.
Start Living as Your Future Self Now
Once you know who you need to become, start acting like that person right now. Not tomorrow. Not when you feel “ready.”
Right MF. Now.
- If your future self doesn’t waste time on dumb distractions, cut those out today.
- If your future self sets boundaries like a MF pro, start saying no to things that don’t align with your goals.
- If your future self believes they’re worthy of success, start acting like you’re already there.
This isn’t pretending. This is practicing.
Every choice you make from your future self’s perspective brings you closer to actually becoming that person.
And NOW We Can Talk About the HOW
Because… the beautiful thing about focusing on the WHO… The HOW takes care of itself.
Ohhh snap! Go with me.
When you step into the identity of the person who’s already living your Unapologetic Goal, the steps you need to take become clear.
You don’t have to force it. You just have to align with it.
And that’s SO much easier – and fun – than hustling and grinding. (Seriously do people still do that?)
Because when you become the person who’s meant for that Unapologetic Goal, you’ll make it happen—no matter what.
Now, do you need to know WHEN you’ll get things done?
You know, like a whole planner/calendar/productivity sitch?
Yep, you sure as fuck do.
And THAT is what I’ll share with you next week.
Hold onto your Christmas stocking… I’m about to blow your mind!
Until then!
