The 3 Steps To Embrace Your Main Character Energy
This week I gathered some friends together to see Cirque du Soleil: Corteo at the Microsoft Theater in LA.
It was SUCH a thrill – even though the mama bear in me had anxiety the whole time, wanting to keep them safe!
Rain is an aerialist so she loved seeing the performers flip, fly, and catapult themselves across the stage!
Then, she asked me if SHE could do that one day and I felt nauseous.
Anyway…. The thing that stood out most to me was the fact that every single one of those performers is a star.
got me to thinking…
What if we were all the star ⭐ of our own lives?
Think about it… what if we went ALL in on being who we are, without apologies?
What if we all embraced main character energy?
What is “main character energy”, you ask?
It’s about seeing yourself as the main character in your own life. The star of your own movie. The leading lady/ gentleman/ human in your own life.
It’s about being fully in control of your choices, your emotions, and your decisions (as well as the outcomes).
It’s where you make your own wants and needs a priority.
Why? Because you matter.
Your dreams matter.
The things that bring you joy matter.
Now, let’s pause for a moment of clarity…
I’m not saying you should walk into a room with the attitude of “fuck everybody but me”. You still have to be respectful and considerate to others. Cool? Cool.
People with main character energy don’t create a scene. They are the scene.
They don’t let supporting characters, or worse NPC (non-player characters) step across their boundaries.
When you embrace the identity of being the main character of your life, things change.
You become the kind of person who makes your dreams a reality. It’s not “if”, it’s “when”.
You understand that “no” just means you haven’t asked the right person yet.
You show up like you matter (because, hi).
And you walk into a room like you own it because with this newfound mindset, you fucking can!
Today, I invite you to use these 3 steps to start embracing your main character energy:
- Own your story. This was the hardest one for me. I was ashamed of where I came from and what I had been through so I hid it (read: lied about it) for years. Until I realized that when I owned my story, it no longer owned me. So, own the deepest truth of who you are. Take the lessons you’ve learned along the way and use them for what’s next.
- Be open to new adventures. Stop looking at change as fear and instead rewrite that story to see change as an adventure where everything is possible and anything can happen. Living in fear isn’t even living. You’ve got one precious life. Be the person with the great stories and not the one with a life full of regrets.
- Take action, starting now. Not 30 pounds from now. Not more money from now. Not better clothes from now. But rather, “come as you are” NOW!
Keep reading and I’ll share some practical actions you can take to become the main character of your life!
Don’t waste another second fading into the background. You’re meant for more than that.
YOU TOO MUST HAVE A CLEAR CLIMAX / GOAL
Every good show has a climax. The climax is the point where the character reaches their goal.
In order to be the main character of your life, YOU TOO must have a clear climax/goal.
So, what is it?
It could be anything…
… making 6 or 7 figures a year
… becoming a coach
… enjoying a deep relationship that makes your toes curl
… finding meaning and purpose
… working from home, making your own schedule
… taking every Monday off
… giving your family the lifestyle they deserve
… freedom to never have to worry about money again
… or something else altogether
Mine is to inspire others to rewrite their stories by being an example of what was possible when I rewrote my own. And to have a cool $100 million cash in the bank with more in assets as a result of doing so.
Don’t overthink this. Most of us know exactly what our #1 goal is in life. Write it down.
Now, you also know that the best movies / shows all have conflict of some sort.
The main character doesn’t just go from where they are now to their goal without anything ever getting in their way. I mean… that would be nice but also pretty boring.
So, consider that as the main character of your life, you will face conflicts, obstacles, and roadblocks. It’s just part of it. That’s what makes life exciting!
But remember… this is not your first time at the Obstacle Rodeo.
Rely on your past experiences as well as the strengths of your future SELF to overcome anything that gets in your way. You’ve got this.
EMBRACE YOUR MAIN CHARACTER ENERGY
Once you are clear on what the climax/goal of your life is, it’s time to start embracing main character energy, living like the star you are, and creating your future SELF now!
Here are some ideas to get you started…
- Live intentionally. Stop doing random things (scrolling social, refreshing that website, etc.) and act with purpose. Stop wasting your one precious life on shit that doesn’t matter.
- Create a ritual of enjoying tea before bed. I’m obsessed with this sampler that’s focused on wellness. When I don’t have time for loose leaf tea, this one is my go to!
- Buy (and really enjoy) quality pajamas. Try these for a cult classic. This company also has beautiful options. I’ve shared these before and I love that I can throw a long wool coat over them and drive Rain to school!
- Plan a nice evening out with a friend or loved one to build strong relationships.
- Schedule free time in your calendar to think and just BE. It feeds your soul.
- Set (and keep) boundaries (we talked about this in last week’s issue).
- Enjoy spending time in a high vibe hotel lobby planning your future self.
- Find and enjoy a signature scent. I’m allergic to most scents but for some reason, I can wear this, but I don’t use it often. Most of the time I just wear an organic rose essential oil.
- Create a playlist with songs that embrace main character energy and play it in the background often.
- Get outdoors and enjoy nature.
- Get in a good workout.
- Enjoy your favorite skincare product. I’m obsessed and right now these are my faves: This one, this one, oh and this one.
- Embrace creativity on a regular basis.
- Romanticize your life – model it after someone you look up to.
- Wear clothing that reflects the main character energy of your future self.
- Stop and smell the roses. Literally! Stop rushing through life and embrace what it has to offer!
What ONE thing will YOU do this week to embrace your main character energy?
BE YOU! EVERYONE ELSE IS TAKEN.
Whether I’m coaching clients or working with my coaches at ITN or The Modern Life Coach School, one of the questions I’m often asked is…
“Cynthia, how do I stand out from everyone else?”
My answer is always the same. Be YOU!
Seriously! Everyone else is taken. Everything has been said. If you want to stand out and have a powerful, unique brand, you have to be willing to be yourSELF with no apologies.
We focus so much time, energy, and money on building a brand. But instead of trying to create a brand, simply BE the brand of you.
And then no one else can compete. Not even close.
