Think Before You Speak…Your Words Have Power!
I’m sitting on the flight back to LA and the couple behind me are speaking loudly.
“I really should go to the gym more,” she said.
“I want to have a body like this.” I glanced back and noticed she was looking at her phone.
“I just have no willpower. I’m too lazy,” she said with a laugh.
But I didn’t think it was funny.
I wanted to turn around and immediately start coaching her, telling her about the power of her words.
But I didn’t. Mostly because I didn’t want to get punched in the face. So… I thought I would write about it instead.
Here’s what I want you to know… your words have power!
Your mind is always listening and whatever you tell it, it accepts as truth.
Mind: You don’t have willpower? Ok, I’ll act accordingly.
Mind: You’re lazy. Got it. I’ll act accordingly.
Think of your mind as an obedient servant.
It will do, be, and believe everything you tell it.
“I could never do that.”
“I will try but I’ll probably fail.”
Your brain will listen to these stories and proceed accordingly.
If you truly want to become SELF Made, watch your mouth.
Focus on rewriting these stories and all the others that keep you stuck. Because the truth is, you’re so much more powerful than you think you are.
Make a quick list…
Write down all the defeating stories you tell yourself.
Then, immediately rewrite them so they serve you and your goals.
Now start to notice anytime you’re telling yourself these old stories, and immediately switch to your updated version of that story.
